When one thinks of designs by Oscar de la Renta, the word “timeless” comes to mind. Savannah’s School of Arts and Design (SCAD) is hosting a retrospective until May 3rd- the first show since his death, just 3 months ago. Oscar and SCAD had a relationship for over a decade. Over the years, de la Renta generously gifted fabrics from his collections to the SCAD School of Fashion for student use, and offered many students internship opportunities at ODLR. From beautifully draped coats to embellished dresses worn by Oprah and the likes, “Oscar de la Renta: His Legendary World of Style,” is an excellent homage to the life, skill and creativity of the renowned designer. Plans for the Spring? We cannot wait to make a day trip to Savannah and see for ourselves.
In our minds, Baker Furniture is the Oscar-equivalent when it comes to the world of furniture craftsmanship. With origins dating back to 1890, Baker Furniture prides itself on elegance and unbeatable artistry. We love Baker for all of its diverse collections but the Historic Charleston Collection has a place in our heart (of course): “Based on thousands of hours of research and design, each piece is inspired by the era’s original furniture.” In other (Beyonce’s) words, these pieces are “flawless.”
Here is a curated selection of photos from the Oscar retrospective and Baker furniture. In both fashion and interiors, it is easy to tell that these designs are classics, and will withstand the test of time in the dynamic worlds of style and design.
