A Closer Look: Photography at Mitchell Hill

Here at Mitchell Hill, our painters represent the topmost in innovation, expertise and quality. For our photographers, the criteria is no different. Brown W. Cannon III and Sebastian Smith have different aesthetics and styles, adding to the diverse and dynamical essence to our gallery.

Brown W. Cannon III career in photography has taken him all over the globe. However, as a true artist, Brown finds beauty in the exotic as well as a mile from his home. He observes and digests an encounter, then uses his camera to exploit a defining moment of that experience- a moment that is ephemeral.

A recent collaboraton with his sister K.C. Lockrem has pushed both of their work into a new realm. Images of horses, schools of fish and flamingos are adorned in layers of fabric, gold flake and magazine clipping which offer an outcome that even surprises them.

Sebastian Smith lives in New York City and Charleston, SC, and divides his time throughout the year shooting between his studios in Manhattan, Paris and Charleston. His photos exude a worldly seduction.
